Subject: Greetings from fumblers.family

Hello Everyone,

I guess introdutions should come first - we're Mike and Ann and we've been great fans of Sarah for several years. We live in Silverdale, Washington (which is west of Seattle across Puget Sound). We're industrial hygienists and we work at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. We have all of Sarah's 'albums' (except bootlegs which are impossible to find here) and we've seen her in concert three times (one show in November 1997 in Seattle, WA; and both shows in April 1998 in Portland, OR).

As you can probably deduce from the subject line, we're the responsible party for registering the fumblers.com/org/net domains. We actually registered the fumblers.com domain in September of 1998 with the intent of hosting a site on that domain. To make an extremely long story short, our ISP highly suggested registering the other domain extensions (after having some difficulty with a business domain we also administer). So in early January we initiated registering the .org and .net domains. As our intent was to provide a 'starting point' for other fumblers to discover Sarah (and her music) on the internet and provide other certain services to fellow fumblers, we decided to use the .org address rather than the .com or .net addresses which may have been mistaken for a commercial or 'for profit' site(s). Ann and I have assumed all financial responsibility for registering the domains and hosting the site (which is about $120 a month). While this may seem like a lot, it provides us with a great amount of freedom in setting up and running the site. Over the last month, we have been extremely busy and have not been able to work on the site as much as we would like to have. In fact, we had been so busy that we hadn't read any FTE digests for the last few weeks. We were pleased to hear from a fellow fumbler a couple weeks ago that there were other fumblers interested in putting together a web site. As we told him, the following are some of the features and services we will eventually be offering:

a. A personal e-mail address at fumblers.org (or fumblers.com, fumblers.net) - i.e., [email protected]
b. Access to a chat room.

We also plan on having pages with information about Sarah, her music, links to other Sarah sites, a 'fumblers' web-ring, an FTE subscribers profile page, etc...

All of this will take us some time, but we hope to have it all up shortly.

In the meantime, we would like to already offer any fumblers a fumblers.org/com/net email address. Right now, I can't offer a dedicated POP3 account, but we can provide you with an alias (any email sent to the fumblers.? address will be forwarded to an email address you supply). If you are interested in getting an address, send us an email at [email protected] with the following information:

Name (Last, First):
Email address (which you currenly use):
fumblers.? address you would like (specify the extension - .org/com/net)
- as I will assign addresses on a first come, first served basis, please send at least three choices and your rank preferences:
City, State (or Country) in which you live:

Initially, I'm limiting the addresses for fumblers that subscribe to the FTE mailing list (including the digest version) so I'll be checking requests against the subscriber's list. Please give us at least a couple days to get the address set up - we'll email you when everything is ready.

We hope you are as excited about this as we are. Eventually, we will be asking for YOUR assistance in developing the site. In the meantime, all we ask is that you be a little patient and let us know what you think (while we would prefer to get only nice/good comments, we'll take any comments or suggestions you may have).

Mike ([email protected]) and Ann ([email protected])
